On
April 23, Inspur successfully passed the CMM 3 evaluation
conducted by the experts authorized by American SEI. This
is another international pass of Inspur after it qualified
for "Class A Demonstration Enterprise Exporting Software
to Europe and America". This marks that Inspur has
made progress in the management of project development and
gained another important qualification in international
business of the export of software and software outsourcing.
According to the arrangement of CMM 3 evaluation,
the ATM which consists of six persons and was led by SASWATA,
the chief expert of CMM and CMMI, conducted an eight-day
evaluation in Inspur. The formal evaluation includes mainly
three items: document inspection, interview with mid-level
managers and interview with the functional groups. Finally,
they concluded that all the CMM 3 objects of process management
and quality control meet the CMM 3 mature-level requirements.
Thus, Inspur was awarded the SW-CMM 3 international audit
certificate with the signature of SASWATA.
CMM, short for Capability Maturity Model, which
was instituted by Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie
Mellon University, is mainly used to evaluate the ability
of software contractor and help the software enterprise
seek method for improving quality. Engaged in the upgrading
of improvement and evaluation of the management of software
development process and ability of software engineering,
CMM is the guaranty for the products of software enterprises
to march towards internationalization. It is classified
into five grades; elementary grade, repeatable grade, defined
grade, managed grade and optimizing grade. The upgrade of
the maturity shows that the planning of the manufacture
of software is more accurate. CMM is now widely recognized
in the world.
The qualification of CMM 3 of Inspur has
quickened the steps of the software enterprises in Shandong
Province in the exploitation of the international market.
Among more than 750 software enterprises in Shandong Province,
the Inspur Tongruan of Inspur Group passed the CMM 3
audit in early 2003, which is the first in the province,
a year later, the Inspur Software of Inspur Group also
passed the CMM 3 audid, and the Inspur Shike shall pass
the CMM 3 audit at end of the year. Therefore, as the leading
enterprise of software industry in Shandong Province, Inspur
shall quicken its steps to the flagship software enterprise
of standardization, product-orientation, normalization and
internationalization to further strengthen its international
